Gas Prices...
They are going up again. Question for my friends:

How much do YOU pay for unleaded gas? In US dollars, if those outside the states can make the conversion. Maybe seeing what others are paying will make at least some of us feel better. :-) We are paying $169.9 per gallon here.

$1.69 for regular in northern Virginia. When I was in SC two weeks ago, their regular was $1.51.

That was supposed to be $1.699 :-) I real could not afford it at $169.9!

You pay nothing for petrol I swear. I'm in England and we have like the highest prices. At the moment we pay 85p per litre, that's like $1.30. So we pay nearly as much per litre as you do for a gallon. and prices have just come down about 15%, although they're starting to rise again.

Re:
I know we have it pretty good when compared to Europe. I remember how it was back in 1972 when I went to Germany. When I left the states, gas was about 40 cents per gallon. In Germany we paid about $1.60 per gallon I think. We were over there while the US had it's gas shortages with lines at the pumps and when gas was plentiful again, the cost was over $1.00/gal. Still cheap by European standards.

hmm....a week ago it was $1.78? That's why it's going to cost about $15-$30 for me to drive home from college... and it's going to cost my parents even more per vehicle to drive up and back home... *sigh* ~*kicker*~

$2.05 per gallon here in my area of Chicago metro...

Re:
I figured Illinois would be higher. You seem to have more taxes than some states. I suppose California has even more taxes on their gas, but you guys pay quite a bit. I know I avoid buying gas in Illinois when I can.

Actually, I'm in NW Indiana.. but our area is considered part of Chicago Metro.

Regardless, we pay what Chicago pays.. *sigh*

1.999 in Boulder Creek, but I paid 1.899 at the cheap place in Santa Cruz last week.

Even this high, gas is still cheaper than the inflation-adjusted prices we paid in 1981...

Re:
You are correct. It's still pretty much a bargain and considering the taxes I know you pay on your gas, that's a good price. I expected it to be higher.

Re:
It usually is higher than the midwest, so it's interesting to see them paying more. At this point, it's about refinery capacity, distribution, and the different blends required by each part of the country. We're no longer the only place requiring a special blend.

I knew there had to be something like that out there somewhere. :-)

Right now we are paying 1.479 per gallon where I live in Louisiana. I expect that it will hit two dollars a gallon by mid summer.

On the other hand, if you knew just how many good wells that are capped here in Louisiana and many of them have been capped for at least 25 years it would infuriate you everytime you go to the gas station.

Re:
Maybe these higher prices will make them more economical to uncap and get them going again!

hmmm
here in columbus, ohio, it was at $1.859 in the 'burbs. it's been rising fast, they say expect to see $2.509+ around memorial day, and up towards $3 this summer. well see...i'm really glad i decided to buy a small car last summer instead of a small suv. :-)

Re: hmmm
I am thankful I did the same. I'm sure my wife cringes everytime she fills up her mini-van. No, I know how she handles that - she only puts gas into it $5.00 at a time. :-) So she must be gasing up every other day!
