Fast as a speeding bullet...
I got my new computer going this morning. I sure don't like the keyboard that came with it.

It is unbelievable how much slower this computer was with all the caching turned off. I replaced the 128M memory that was bad. The store did not have 128M or 256M, so I picked up a 512M chip, so.....my computer now hows what I consider an obscene amount of memory at 778M!

I'm not sure if I like XP or not. They have changed the look and feel quite a bit and they have managed to hide Internet Explorer so well, I have not found it yet, except through calling up the windows update site from the start menu!

I hadn't heard that they changed XP up so much. I've been wondering if I should update my operating system for the ME edition to the XP. Of course I would want to make sure that I have the system requirements to handle the XP.

I think hiding Internet Explorer was part of the law suit settlement with the US governement. I don't usually get political on LJ but it does make me angry. Someone builds a better mouse trap and here comes the liberals to persecute them for it. Oh well, enough politics.

I'm glad that you got your computer up and running now and really hope that you enjoy it. I'm also glad to know that the memory can be upgraded on one so easily. Mine has 128M memory, which seems like a lot to this old country boy, but 778, wow that should knock the socks off of anything around here....LOL

I agree with you on the Microsoft thing. Memory is not as hard to upgrade as it used to be when it was a chip at a time and there were 20 or more chips. They get so much on a 8 chip wide little card these days! Static electricity is your worst enemy though! I think 128M is listed as the minimum for XP, but I'd say 256 or more would be best.

From ME, I would say it would be worth the trouble to upgrade. I have not ever seen a copy of ME running but I have not heard much good about it.

Thanks Amber! I remember hearing about that now, but I had forgotten. I will try it both ways and see which I like better!

Well, Lew, I wasn't aiming to do that, but it does make me feel sorta good! :-) I do wish I had gotten a more solid motherboard though.
